CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate and is a national program. CASA is the only volunteer organization that empowers everyday citizens as officers of the court. Being a CASA volunteer does not require any special education or background, simply the desire to help abused and neglected children find safe, permanent homes. A volunteer’s three primary duties are to investigate the case, advocate for a child’s best interest, and to report to the Guardian ad Litem attorney.
CASA requirements include being 21 or older, a year commitment, and 8-10 hours monthly of service after completion of 32 hours of training. Trainings are held every few months. Trainings are held after hours and on Saturdays to accommodate with school or work schedules.
There is a CASA application that needs to be filled out, you are welcome to come to the office to pick it up, or I am willing to mail it to you. When I receive application back, I will contact you to schedule an interview.
We are located at:
32 W. Center Street, Ste 205 in Provo.
Please visit the national CASA website at: www.nationalcasa.org for additional information on the program. Or, feel free to call me with any questions at 801-344-8516.
